Hand Wovens: Shuggs, Scarves

I love weaving on my rigid heddle looms. You will never mistake items woven on rigid heddle looms for machine weaving.

Presently I am making scarves and “Shuggs.”

A “Shugg” is a cross between a shawl and a hug. My Shuggs are approximately 7 feet long and 22-24″ wide. You can wear them like a shawl or wrap it around you like a blanket or a hug.

For best results launder your shug or scarve in a basin with a mild detergent like “Dawn” dish soap. Roll in a towel to remove moisture and then dry flat. You may place it in the dryer for a few minutes with the wet towels to fluff it up.
