Felicity’s Story

Felicity was a handmade cloth doll who loved dragonflies. She had brown hair and hazel eyes, and she wore a two-piece rose-colored batik outfit and matching wool felt shoes. She was made by a dollmaker who worked in an art gallery in a small town. The dollmaker had a passion for making dolls, and she gave each one a name and a personality. She displayed them in the gallery, along with paintings, sculptures, and other artworks.

Felicity was happy in the gallery, but she also longed for adventure. She wanted to see the world beyond the walls of the gallery, and she especially wanted to see the dragonflies that flew around the pond near the town. She had seen them in pictures and heard stories about them from the old lady, but she had never seen them in real life. She wondered what it would be like to fly with them, to feel the breeze on her face, and to see the colors of the sky.

One day, she decided to make her dream come true. She waited until the gallery was closed, and then she sneaked out of the window. She followed the road that led to the pond, and she felt a thrill of excitement as she saw the water shimmering in the moonlight. She walked closer to the edge, and she saw hundreds of dragonflies darting and dancing in the air. They were beautiful, and they made a soft humming sound that filled her ears.

Felicity was enchanted by the sight, and she wanted to join them. She waved her arms and tried to jump, but she could not fly. She felt sad and frustrated, and she wished she had wings. She sat down on a rock and watched the dragonflies, hoping that one of them would notice her and come to her.

She did not have to wait long. A large dragonfly with a blue-green body and iridescent wings flew towards her and landed on her shoulder. It looked at her with curiosity and tilted its head. Felicity felt a surge of joy and smiled at the dragonfly. She introduced herself and told it her story. The dragonfly listened and nodded, and then it spoke to her in a soft voice.

“Hello, Felicity. I’m Dazzle, and I’m the leader of the dragonflies. I saw you trying to fly, and I wanted to help you. You are a brave and beautiful doll, and you deserve to see the world. If you want, I can take you for a ride. You can hold on to my legs, and I’ll show you the pond and the sky. What do you say?”

Felicity could not believe her ears. She was overjoyed and thanked Dazzle for his offer. She agreed to go with him, and she carefully climbed on his back. She held on to his legs, and he lifted off the ground. He flew over the pond, and Felicity felt the wind in her hair and the water on her face. She saw the other dragonflies, and they greeted her and welcomed her. She saw the stars and the moon, and they sparkled and smiled at her. She felt free and happy, and she laughed and cheered.

Dazzle took her on a wonderful tour, and he showed her many things. He showed her the flowers and the trees, the frogs and the fish, the birds and the bugs. He showed her the town and the people, the cars and the lights, the shops and the houses. He showed her the world, and she loved it.

They flew for a long time, and they had a lot of fun. They talked and joked, and they became friends. Felicity learned a lot from Dazzle, and he learned a lot from her. They shared their stories and their dreams, and they understood each other. They felt a connection, and they cared for each other.

They flew until the sun began to rise, and then they realized that it was time to go back. Felicity thanked Dazzle for the ride, and he thanked her for the company. They hugged and kissed, and they said goodbye. They promised to see each other again, and they hoped to fly together soon.

Felicity returned to the gallery, and she felt a mix of emotions. She was happy and grateful for the experience, but she was also sad and lonely for leaving Dazzle. She missed him, and she wondered if he missed her. She hoped he was safe and happy, and she wished he was with her.

She climbed back into the window, and she found her place in the gallery. She lay down on her bed, and she closed her eyes. She thought of Dazzle, and she smiled. She felt his presence in her heart, and she heard his voice in her mind. She fell asleep, and she dreamed of flying with him again.
